Jimmy Heath has long been recognized as a brilliant instrumentalist and a magnificent composer and arranger.  Jimmy is the middle brother of the legendary Heath Brothers (Percy Heath/bass and Tootie Heath/drums), and is the father of Mtume.   He has performed with nearly all the jazz greats of the last 50 years, from Howard McGhee, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis to Wynton Marsalis.

Convergence is dedicated to the idea of sharing the intimacy and the spark of improvised music with our audience. We have been creating music together for the last 20 plus years and are excited to be sharing the whole journey with you now. Whether you're a student, professional, or jazz fan, there will be something of interest to you. Having played together for more than 20 years now, the Denver-based ensemble brings together tight original arrangements with space for top-notch improvisation. The group's musical empathy has proved strong even as a long-distance commitment: Since the group's founding, several members of Convergence have moved from Colorado to New York City.
